FEBRUARY 2007 MEETING - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT,  (with many thanks to ROBERT WYSS)

JOHN DERAMAIX, a guest of Gerry Reed, gave us his presentation on sculpturing with Plasticine. John showed many slides to illustrate his work and of which he brought in several samples.

DAVE SAGE brought in a recently completed Atkinson 4 cycle engine. It had multicoloured anodizing and had powder coated parts that where all done by Dave. The electronics were well hidden in & under the base. Also impressive was the way it ran - on the first pull, no less!

BERT de KAT showed us pictures from the UK of the recent Midlands ME exhibition, South Kensington Science Museum, Greenwich Observatory museum and the Kew Pumping Station.

JEFF KINGMA continued on his talk about shaping and how to do it. Jeff strongly suggested that one should stay away from cheap scrapers and buy either high quality ones or convert old dull high quality files into scrapers.

RICHARD TROUNCE gave a short talk on silver soldering.

Richard used black flux and a propane torch to demonstrate his technique.

DAVE POWELL continued his autopsy of a recently purchased locomotive. Dave brought in the all-steel boiler that was unique in the fact that the boiler tubes were steel and welded into place.

DAVE SAGE & GERALD GARDINER both brought in mystery items. Dave's could only be described as a set of gripping pruning shears with a 3/16" flat blade.

Gerald's was identified by our president Robert Wyss, as the base assembly of a grinding wheel radius dresser.

MISLAID AT THE FEBRUARY MEETING:

A Centre Punch and Wrench, bundled together with masking tape. Please let JOHN CHAPPELL know if you found these.
