Dave Oulton brought in some small oscillator engines with a few associated samples of jigs and machined parts illustrating the machining steps of some parts. Thee engines run on low pressure ( 2- 4 psi ) . Pictures (CDR ) were use to show steps taken to make the housing for the valve block for a small oscillator

Robert Wyss brought in an accurate indicator he has restored during the summer. Pictures were shown with before and after the rust removal. He illustrated the process that had to be taken to remove the internal components of the indicator. Once the interior was refurbished the case was also cleaned up and painted. The finished unit was reassembled and looks as good as new.

Steve Lilly brought in a WELLS horizontal engine that was picked up from a flea market. Upon examination it was found that many parts had to be remade as the original parts were poorly made and he made new parts. He will also plans to add a governor to it.

Bill Huxhold explained the various steps taken to make a small valve along with the special tools that had to be made to profile the parts. The valve also had to be silver soldered from the inside. A square hole was made to attach the valve knob to the valve. A gland nut was added with graphite packing to seal the moving parts. He also explained how he made the inlet holes for a turbine.

Dave Bray brought in a small feed pump for the SWEET PEA engine. . He has not had a chance to run it. The unit was made from a kit purchased from Southworth in England. It had good castings and plans.

Don Carr brought in a set of Chassis sides for a 3 ½  gauge HUDSON engine with over 6 weeks work on it. He explained the process to get the work done.

Eric Kingsley brought in a SIRUS twin made from bar stock not castings. It had a modified crank shaft with counter weights included. It runs on air at 20/15 psi. very well. The engine has a one inch boar and one inch stroke.

NEW MODELLER EDITOR – PLEASE - SOMEONE?: DAVE BRAY wishes to retire from editing THE MODELLER, on or by September 2008 – that gives someone about a year to think about this and to come and offer

to take this over. I will have done this task for about 20 years by Sept 2008, and think it is time for some

new thinking. I have written up some guiding notes on what I have developed in putting the newsletter

together, and sending it out to members to help the new editor.
